For 4 years this tiny gallerry was devoted to showcasing the work of street artist in NYC and around the world. Originally when the gallery began owners Ad Deville and Ali Ha used it as a vehcile to show their own work-the art of Skewville. The gallery had 21 urban art related shows during it's time.In Nov 2006 the gallery was notified it would not be able to renew its lease as the building was being sold off as condos. Ad Deville battled the building owner in court till March 2007 when the courts ordered evicition for April 15. The Gallery threw one final closing party complete with Grand Closing show signage specifically made for the show by Skewville.
Skewville joined forces with Aiko and Bast for a show at Adhoc in Bushwick. With the fever the week prior at the faile show which gossip rumors are reporting $2.4 million in sales from the one weekend nongallery run show. It was a no brainer that Aiko would sell out even in Bushwick. But Skewville didn't expect to have as much success as they had. Above is a photo of Ad Deville of Skewville's wall with his latest layered work. Per usual Skewville hit the streets to coincide with the Adhoc show as shown in the piece below across from 3rd ward on Morgan Ave.
Skewville was part of a group show in Shore Ditch at Leonard Street Art Gallery called "Found". When originally asked to submit work they were only suppose to have 3 pieces in the show...The gallery loved the work they ended up putting 20 pieces in the show. The gallery requested the Hype crates in 4 new color variations. The Brits love "iconic" work and Skewville has got what they like.
